About the policy
The Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) of the European Union (EU) is a set of rules and mechanisms that regulate most aspects of the production, exchange and processing of agricultural products inside the EU. Agriculture has always been one of the main policies of the EU and CAP is still the one that accounts for most of the total community budget (about 43%). CAP aims to support farmers’ incomes while also supporting them to produce high quality products demanded by the market and encouraging them to seek new development opportunities, such as renewable environmentally friendly energy sources.
