CAP 2013: Food for Change in Studio/K

Do we want all farmers to stop spraying chemicals? Can we buy only local food? And how about the undernourished people in Asia and Africa? The Dutch YFM is organizing a public debate to hear about different opinions concerning our current global food system.

By the year 2050 we will need to feed 9 billion people, but today we cannot yet manage to feed the current population of 7 billion. In the discussion about "The Future of Our Food," there are, roughly speaking, two mainstream views: on the one side there are the proponents of small, regional agriculture AKA 'Slow Food'; on the other the advocates of the free market, who say that we need to produce as much food as possible, and ensure that this food is freely traded on the world market.

But is the world is so black or white? On December 10 the YFM will explore this question.
